Toggle1. Have your slippers worn out? Don't throw them away!
Drill a few holes in the sole using a hot nail to ensure proper drainage and prevent waterlogging. Next, fill the slipper with potting soil, ensuring it’s evenly distributed. Then, gently plant your flowers, making sure they’re well-positioned and supported.
2. Your bag isn't trendy anymore? No problem!
Are you ready to retire your bag from the world of fashion, but still want to give it a place in your garden? Transform it into a one-of-a-kind flower planter. Just be cautious of water seeping out from the flowerpot and dirtying the surroundings! Consider placing a tray underneath the planter or lining the bottom of the bag with plastic to prevent water damage to the bag material caused by standing water.
3. Let's revamp grandma's old furniture!
A condemned old piece of furniture can become a fantastic upcycled container. Choose drawers of various sizes, and start by sanding them thoroughly. After sanding, proceed with a thorough cleaning and then primer application. You can opt for enamel or stain paint for painting the drawers. Enamel paint covers the wood grain, while stain allows it to show through. Paint the drawers with your chosen paint in at least two coats for adequate coverage, then after drying, add a waterproof layer to the bottom to prevent wood rot over time. The best and simplest solution is to cut a piece of thicker foil to fit. This could even be an unused, thicker nylon bag in which you last brought home the weekend shopping.
4. The old chair's new outfit
If that chair no longer fits indoors, with a creative idea, you can craft your garden’s finest planter. If you prefer a simple and quick way to make this unique garden decoration, just sand and paint. In this case, simply place the potted flower on the repainted chair seat. However, if you’re skilled or have someone to assist you, cut out the seat of the chair and attach a wire mesh in its place. Place coconut fiber in the wire mesh and plant the flower into it.
5. Bike Blooms
My personal favorite, the upcycled bicycle. You can even use your child’s outgrown bike for this creative purpose. Paint it with some durable paint, then get ready for planting! Hang a basket on the handlebars and place the flowers inside. You can boldly place a few more flower pots on the rest of the bike. The more colorful the end result, the better. Place it on the street and let everyone passing by admire it. You’re guaranteed to be the envy of all.
6. Upcycled tin cans
Upcycled tin cans can be easily transformed into unique, imaginative flower pots. They can be decorated simply with paint, napkins, glued-on rhinestones, or other decorative elements. The finished creative tin cans look fantastic in their new attire in our garden or on our balcony. The various sizes and shapes of tin cans offer the opportunity to plant flowers and plants of different sizes and types in them.
7. Childhood memories can live on in the garden
If your child no longer plays with it but it holds fond memories for you, don’t throw it away! Place it in the flowerbed, and when you look at it, it’ll remind you of those happy moments when your child was still so little. It can become a beautiful symbol of nostalgia and a testament to the joy of parenthood.
8. Retro is always cool
If you love retro items, this is your best upcycled flower container. You probably won’t be making calls with this old phone anymore, so it’s best to find it a new spot in your garden. Its nostalgic charm will add a unique character to your outdoor space. Plant succulents in it, which don’t require regular watering, as there isn’t much space for their roots in the phone. These plants are easy to care for and look great in the small interior of the retro phone.
9. The green-haired girl
You can confidently use an old doll, as it looks very nice if you replace its hair with some kind of plant. Don’t forget that from now on, you will have to cut its hair. This can be a special and unique way to decorate your garden, which will attract all eyes
10. Plastic bottle as stylish garden decoration
A plastic bottle costs next to nothing, yet with a bit of paint and some greenery, we can create a truly unique, creative, and stylish garden decoration. Shape the desired form using a sharp knife, then spray paint the plastic bottle. It can be particularly special if we give the plastic surface a concrete effect. Finally, insert the plant, preferably a hanging variety, to make the overall picture truly impressive.
